Peter and the Wolf is Prokofiev’s beloved symphonic fairy tale, originally composed in 1936 and inspired by a traditional Russian folk story. Through music and dance, the story follows Peter as he ventures into the forest, where he encounters a colorful cast of characters and a fierce wolf. Prokofiev’s iconic score brings each character to life through distinctive musical themes, with the flute representing the bird, oboe the duck, clarinet the cat, bassoon the grandfather, French horns the wolf, strings Peter, and percussion the hunters.

Danced by ten members of the Atlantic City Ballet and choreographed by Artistic Director Phyllis Papa, this captivating production brings the timeless story to the stage through expressive choreography, vivid characterizations, and the unforgettable language of music and dance. Papa first choreographed the ballet in 1976 for the Stars of American Ballet, making this a work with a longstanding place in her artistic repertoire.
